Grade 9 Science Help

Students who would like extra help preparing for their quiz can stay after school on Monday, December 7th from 3:15 to 4pm. Please bring your science work and meet in room 313. Students should have reviewed their notes, textbook and work done in class prior to coming for extra help. This will allow the help to be best directed to the areas in need.

Any student who is not able to stay after school on Monday can make arrangements with Mrs. Caissy to have the extra help during lunch on Monday. :)

The project is a research paper on a Canadian Scientist. Students will be given two clases to begin the project but will need to complete it at home or after school in the library. Each student has now chosen their topic and have received the criteria for the paper.

Grade 9 Science Homework

Grade 7 Science Term Project

Science 313 and 309 will complete a design challenge for their term project. The project is due on Friday, November 13th.
They will be building a model of a farmers field in which the soil resists erosion and water runoff. The particulars for this project can be found on page 243 in their science book. Students can work alone or with one partner. They will need to build and test their model at home before brining it to school.

Grade 8 Science Term Project

Grade 9 Science Term Project

Science 105 and 106 have started their term 4 projects. They are making slide shows on Space and Space Technology to present in class. The presentations will begin on Tuesday, June 16th.

Grade 7 Science Term Project

Science 313 and 309 have started their term 4 projects. They are making slide shows on PEI ecosystems to present in class. They will be incorporating the information and pictures from their field trip to the PEI National Park. The presentations will begin on Monday, June 15th.

Grade 8 Science Quiz

Grade 7 Science Field Trip

Science 313 and 309 will be participating in a field trip to the PEI National Park this Friday, May 29th. Students are reminded to dress for the weather conditions, bring a bag lunch, water bottle, sun screen and insect repellent. Students will leave the school by 9am and travel by school bus to Stanhope. They will return to SIS for 2:30pm.

Field Trip Science 313 and 309

On May 29th, science 313 and 309 will be on a field trip with Mrs. Caissy. Permission forms have been given to each student. They need to return these forms signed ASAP.

The filed trip is to the PEI National Park for tours on a Pond Ecosystem and Beach Ecosystem. Students will have the opportunity to go dip netting, see beavers and other wildlife who live in the habitat of the National Park. They will also go on a beach walk to learn about the role of dunes, sand and oceans play in our beach ecosytems. In between each of these learning experiences we will have a picnic lunch in the kitchen shelters. Students will return to SIS by 2:30pm.

Homework Science 309

Students started their review sheet today for the test coming up on Tuesday. They are to complete the section of the review sheet on the terms for class on Monday. In class Monday the remaider of the review will be done and correted.

Adopt A River Project

Grade 8 students in homeroom 206 and 209 are working on a river project. They have 3 field trips scheduled to obtain samples and data concerning their river. Permission forms have been given to the students and they are due back ASAP. The first scheduled field trip for science 209 is Tuesday, May 12th and for science 206 Thursday, May 14th.

For the Design Challenge they can do any one of the three design challenges from pages 134-135 in their science book. They must include a report following the scientific method with their project. Students can work alone or with one other student. Each project will be presented to their science class during the week of March 2nd. A science Fair Project can be an alternate choice.
