Grade 9 Science Quiz

Students will write a quiz on Day 1, Tuesday February 5th. The quiz will cover chapter 9 of their science book on Static Electricity. A review will be done in class.

Grade 7 Science Quiz

Students will write a quiz on Day 6, Wednesday, January 30th. The quiz will cover the following sections of their science book: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 1.5. There are not many sections on this quiz however section 1.2 is large and covers a number of new terms and concepts. Students have been asked to go over this material often at home and ask for clarification in class, if needed. A review will be done in class.

Grade 7 Science

Students who have not completed the analysis of the Polymer Lab are asked to complete it to be passed in during class on Monday, January 21st.

Science 309 Homework

Students in 309 are asked to finish the following questions for Monday, January 21st.

Students in homeroom 106 have homework due for Wednesday, January 23rd.

Grade 8 Science Quiz

Due to the 2 missed school days the quiz moves into next week as it was scheduled for Day 6. The new date for the quiz will be Monday, January 21st.

Grade 7 Science Term Project

Grade 7 Science students have a term project due on February 28th. They can choose between doing one of the design challenges on page 62-63 in their science book or a science fair project. The design challenge choices are 1) A Water Purification System, 2) A Recycling System for Plastic, Glass, Metal and Paper or 3) A Mechanical Soil and Gravel Separator. Please follow the design criteria for each project. If students choose to do a science fair project, they are to follow the guidelines for science fairs found in the folowing link:

This link will also provide ideas for science fair projects. The SIS Science Fair will be on March 5th at the SIS Gym. The Provincial Science Fair is on Thursday, April 3rd, storm date April 4th at UPEI.
All projects (Design Challenge or Science Fair) must be in to Mrs. Caissy on or before February 28th. :)

Grade 8 Science Homework

Students who have not completed the lab on Density are to finish it as homework.
A worksheet on Density Logic was given to students on Friday to have completed as homework for Tuesday.

Grade 9 Science Homework

Students who have not compeled the analysis for the lab on Static Electriciry are to finish it as homework. Lab reports are due at their next science class on Monday.

SIS Science Fair March 5th

Summerside Intermediate School will hold its annual science fair on Wednesday, March 5th in the SIS Gym. Storm date is Thursday, March 6th. The science fair is open to all students attending SIS. The projects will be judged in the morning and the science fair will be open to the public in the afternoon. Students are asked to follow the provincial guidelines for the science fair. All projects must be passed in, on or before February 28th. Projects chosen by the judges to represent our school, will attend the Provincial Science Fair, held at UPEI, on Thursday, April 3rd, storm date April 4th.

Grade 9 Science Term Project

Grade 9 Science students have a term project due on February 28th. They have a choice of doing one of three projects; 1) Science Fair Project and participant in the SIS Scienec Fair on Wednesday, March 5th, 2) A slide Show or Movie on a science topic of their choice or 3) A Working Model of Science where they create their own design challenge. All students have been given detailed information on this project. They can do the project alone or with one other science student.

Grade 8 Science Quiz

A quiz will be held on Thursday, January 17th. The following sections of the science book will be covered in the quiz; 2.1, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, and 2.8. A review sheet will be completed and corrected in class to help students prepare for the quiz.

Grade 8 Science Term Project

The grade 8 term project will be due on Thursday, February 28th. Students can choose to do either a design challenge on Fluids or a Science Fair Project. For the Design Challenge they can do any one of the three design challenges from pages 134-135 in their science book. They must include a report following the scientific method with their project. Students can work alone or with one other student. Each project will be presented to their science class during the week of March 3rd. A science Fair Project can be an alternate choice. Students must follow the guidelines for doing a science fair project.
